Rejected After interview :(
Hey guys
I called up Bham last week to find out I've been rejected after interview. I was so disapointed
cuz it came so unexpected. I thought the interview went pretty well, and with the ethical questions 2 of the consultant ladies on panel agreed with me on all my arguments etc. I've send mr lote an e-mail for feedback on my interview, and this is what he wrote: I'm afraid that your application was not
considered competitive in view of the additional information you gave us
at the interview, concerning your education in Holland (and the grades
you obtained there), and the fact that you have split your A level
courses.
Yours sincerely,
huh, hold on a minute ??! I've applied through this scheme called A2B which ensures that your GCSE results are overlooked. eventhough my grades from holland were all between A-B range, I applied through the scheme just in case. And as far as my A-levels concerned, I've obtained all A-grades for 4 AS subjects and 2 A2's, under serious mitigating circumstances and I am currently taking A2 Chemistry. I send them stacks of medical evidence and it's taken up more than half of the space on my reference. When I was called for interview, I thought they'd taken my circumstances into account cuz normally you're supposed to do your A-levels within 2 years. Now, what shall I do? Does it look like a misunderstanding or should I leave it as it is? what really annoys me is that they called me for interview. I thought all students invited for interview have been screened academically??
What shall I do?
Any advice from anybody greatly appreciatedWhy do I always underestimate myself

Did you disclose further information at interview about your academic results? If not, then if I were you I would be asking for a more detailed explanation of the situation. I can't understand why you were selected for interview if your application was not 'considered competitive', unless you provided additional information at the interview that led them to that conclusion.
I think it warrants further looking into, to be honest.South Bank University, PgDip Therapeutic Radiography 2007 - almost finished and have just been offered a job!!!

I was rejected after my interview as well. I was told that I lacked communication skills. Although I'm not quite sure as to how???

The truth is that they have to reject people and if you ask for a reason they'll think of something that may or may not be true. For example, I was rejected by three medical schools and asked for feedback from Leeds who wrote that my my application didn't show leadership potential and social awareness or something. I would disagree, but it's pointless arguing - just better to hope your other applications go better!
BMedSc at Birmingham is very good... in some respects they get better teaching than us!!"Don't get high on your own supply."
