    Getting CUT-OFF at birmingham interview

ah yes, another thing I remembered at the Birmingham interview were the interviewers seemed to cut me off a bit for example, they said "So you're not joining the tour?" and before I could explain I had to go home to work coz my boss needs me in, the interviewer said "Well atleast you came to the Birmingham open day anyway". They've cut me off in other occassions aswell. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I felt really "rejected"....I'm still waiting for a reply eek!

I think it is most likely that they had either a) been interviewing for hours and just wanted to get it over with, or b) they were behind schedule and really wanted to get a move on. I imagine they were just asking as a plesantary rather than expecting a full answer.

Don't give up on them until you are contacted with either an offer or a rejection - remember, if they went to the trouble of interviewing you they actually want you on the course more often than not - no point in interviewing people you don't think will be suitable.
I thought I had utterly messed up my interview at Durham, though they seemed to think otherwise.

    Hope it turns out well.

hmmm I guess. The thing is I thought my previous interview went really well but still got a rejection, and now I think this one went by far worse so I pretty much have no faith anymore

I found them a bit like that too. It seemed liked they didn't really want me to talk naturally. They interrupted me a lot to make comments that either suggested I had said completely the wrong thing or that my answer to the question should be over and we should move on. Maybe it is just the way they interview at Birmingham- you're not the only one.

ah ok thanks alot, but i just have a gut feeling i got rejected but hopefully it wont be like that. I'm currently scared to look at UCAS online just incase i see a big fat ugly "unsuccessful"......hopefully Birmingham consider your application aswell as just basing it on the interview after theyve invited u for an interview from the application (if u see what i mean). Coz some unis just base their decisions entirely on the interview which is rather harsh. Ah well, the best thing to do is *wait*.

hey tigerlily have u heard from any unis? and where have u interviewed?

During my interview, they asked if i was going on the tour as well and they didn't seem to happy when i said i wasn't. They went on to ask me why it was important for candidates that they were interviewed. And they were basically getting to the point that i should have gone on the tour. Anyway, there isn't much i can do now, but i was wondering if anyone who didn't go on the tour received an offer.

I didn't go on the tour and I still got an offer. I don't think it makes any difference.

I didnt go on the tour either, and I just said I've been on the open day, and they seemed alrite about that.....although im stilling waiting for a reply :|

I think Birmingham are decent to give you a choice if you want to go on the tour or not, because there are circumstances where you cant go on the tour such as catching a train, already visited the place before, gotta go to work, and got other arrangements. I think you have to ATLEAST have gone to an open day (and mention it to them) before they can further consider you. Good Luck anyway.

    Getting cut off

I had my Birmingham interview on 12th Jan and I thought the interviewers were also cutting me off not allowing me to have a chance to speak and elaborate on things that I said. I too personally thought my interview had gone badly and was convinced I had been rejected especially as I did not hear from them after nearly 4 weeks. But to my surprise I checked on UCAS I got an AAB offer! So I guess things don't seem as bad as u really think!

My friend also had this problem, adamant she was gonna be rejected and she got an offer! Just goes to show, you can never really tell how your interview has gone.
