Freshers for medicine students

OK, having read on another post that our course starts on 25th September, the week before everyone elses course (ie the real freshers week) I'm a bit confused. On the offer letter it does state this. Do we go the week before 25th and have a mini freshers week? Surely that's gonna be a bit rubbish compared to a full blown every fresher in the uni being there.... or do we just be complete slackers for the 1st week and do all the normal freshers stuff while missing most of our lectures

When do we actually go to live there and whats happening? Does anyone actually know?

Errr no. But I'll have a guess.

All the medics freshers stuff will happen as normal (you'll get some medics fresher pack in the post at some point), and then you can do all the other freshers stuff like the club tours and that which are generally organised by the halls your staying in.

Theres not really that much that goes on during the day, except the various societies fairs and the freshers fair, which is only useful to go and get free stuff (condoms, chocolate, pot noodels etc).

As I remember it the timetable was pretty light anyway for the first 2 or 3 weeks at medschool so you'll have plenty of time to wander around campus.

I might see some of the medsoc crew soonish so I might ask them if I remember.

like big C said, not much happens during the day, also your first lectures will probably be titled "introduction to..." and are pretty pointless (although some of them did have some learning stuff in them towards the end)

it's strange they're doing fresher's that way, surely it defeats the point in fresher's a bit as you're not seeing students from other courses as much
