Question Birmingham Med School Inspection

Hi! Here's the problem: I was speaking to one of our HE advisers at school recently, and when I told her I had an offer at Birmingham, she looked a bit dubious and said that B'ham Med School failed their last inspection.... She advised me to pick another med school over B'ham, if I got another offer.

This obviously surprised me as B'ham seems to be quite high in all the Med School league tables.

I can't find any reports on the QEE website, or on the GMC website, and as far as I know, those are the two bodies which regulate med schools.

I'm just wondering if someone can clear this up, and explain what she meant. If not, I'll wait till she gets back to school and ask her myself (as she's off for a while).

Thanks!

Bham are changing the course for 2006 entrants to come into line with GMC recommendations. Most of 1st and 2nd year have been restructured, and there is now an ssc in 1st year as well as 2nd year.

true...especially considering that if wot BigC has sed above is right, and there are SSCs in 1st and 2nd yr, it's not a problem at all...
