whatever you feel comfortable in really. you don't HAVE to wear a suit, as long as u still look smart and presentable it'll be fine. I think if you already own a suit though, u may as well wear it and get the most use out of it!

Don't worry, as long as you don't look like you've wandered in off the streets you'll be fine. There were lots of uncomfortable looking people in suits on my interview day - I just wore a nice skirt and plain top and it didn't seem to count against me

whatever you do make sure you have clean shoes
and dont turn up looking like you are about to go clubbing.
Whatever you choose keep it simple and basic, no really loud tops, it just gives the interviewers a headache!Marc

i agree that you don't have to wear a suit, but i cant think of one person at any of mine not in a suit.

I have to agree with simac in the case of blokes: a) i would be a lot more worried about looking silly for not being in a suit than in one and b) im a wee bit old fassioned and think you should dress up for an interview (point to note: try not to turn up in a black topman shirt and tie - it looks silly and resembles the 'busted' look, which is so 2004)
anyway, just like on the wards, girls can get away with wearing a nice skirt and top. Never really understood why but they can, however dont push the boat out too far, low cut tops make u look like u want to shag the interviewer. And who wants to give that impression eh?Marc

well i tried like....but dont think i pulled it off!
Actually there was one guy at peninsula wearing t shirt and jeans, and i think he felt really stupid surrounded by suits, so i would def say a suit is your best option.Peninsula Third year

If you are a lad I would definately wear a suit, no point risking it by wearing anything different. If you don't own a suit, wear at least a nice shirt and tie!

Always always wear a suit if you can. Even if you are the only one, you cant go wrong with it. If you are the only one in a suit, the examiner isnt gonna think, who is this prat?, hes gonna be thinking "wow, this guy must really want it". whereas if you turn up in jeans and a t-shirt and everyone else is smart, then they are going to think, "well if he cant eve be bothered to smarten up for the interview, then whats his commitment to the profession going to be".
When i went to the open day at sheffield, the addmissions tutor there who lectured us told us that he would always expect doctors to look presentable in the hospital, and as such expects candidates for training as doctors to look presentable at interview.
He suggested, and having been to plenty of job interviews i agree, that the best idea would be a white shirt, a plainish tie (nothing stupid you just look like a prat and draw attention to yourself) and a suit without a distinct pattern. Clean shoes and have a shave (for the blokes).
Hope this helps
