Starting in September?
Hi my name is fiona. Im going to be starting at Birminghams medical School in September. The loans company will only give me the loan amount for living at home even if i live out (apparently i can get there by public transport). I have therefore got to stay at home. I am concerned about Freshers as i will not be living in Halls and was wondering if someone is in the same situation as me? I dont want to miss out on all the Freshers activities. If anyone else is a bit apprehensive about starting or if there are any other medics going to Birmingham then i would love to get to know you guys!! msn: fi_fi_imnotapoodle@hotmail.com
Cheers

Hi Fiona.
Don't worry, I'm sure that you will still enjoy Freshers- We'll make sure of it. I got minimum loan too, but have to live in halls- so it is doable (although I don't know how doable yet!).
Just see how it goes.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Hey
So u live local too. Have you had any information from the uni yet? I havent had anything which is making me kinda worried because there doesnt seem to be any Freshers events that arent specifically for certain halls...and if you dont have a hall *sobs* well I just dont want to miss out on all the fun!

For things like the whole club tour and stuff you need to be in halls... But actually you can still buy discounted tickets (through the guild box office) to ndividual clubs and events- the same dates as the tour so you can still tag along. Chin up, it'll work out. Us local gappers have got to stick together so I shall not let you be dissappointed!

Aww, don't worry fiona (i would have replied b4 but somehow didn't see the thread until now)
there will be plenty of events that are not specifically for halls. if you still feel left out then i'll see if i can smuggle you into any of my hall's events, i don't know if my hall (mannor house) is even having any, they havn't told me and it's not one of the halls that goes on the club tour
you will have a great time though, i'm sure. i'll PM you my e mail address if you want 2 talk on msn
don't be sad!

Hey
Thanks for your support guys! Have you had the info pack on MedSoc come through yet? I was really pleased to see that the Medical school is putting on some events for us. Ive always wanted to go to the Comedy Club on Broad Street but ive just never got round to doing it! Will you guys be going on any of the MEDSOC events?
