How about the reversion to stem cells from fully differentiated cells? They usually do this with fibroblasts. It's pretty recent too.

CiteULike: Induction of pluripotent stem cells from primary human fibroblasts with only Oct4 and Sox2.

An article published 2 weeks ago.

Alternatively you can go backwards from that and study the differentiation, but that's not as interesting.

Can I ask what level you're at? If you're an A leveler then the above will be above your head.

so you mean start from a differentiated stem cell and work backwards?

i was thinking maybe something along the line of what is a stem cell, types, properties, function, etc. an outsiders guide.

its BSc level an i'm really struggling argh

The cutting edge of research at the moment is to make stem cells out of differentiated cells that can then differentiate into something different. If you're looking to construct some sort of lay guide then it's too complex, just list what they are and how they differentiate. A good example is to differentiate stem cells into cardiac muscle that begins to twitch on its own.

I talked about Oct4 and ox2 at length in my interviews! It had just been discovered about 2-3 months before they began. I can never understand why so many people go for stem cells at interview, its a nothing-topic for most medicine. Stem cells have effectively nothing to do with modern healthcare, and won't do for a great many years to come if they ever do at all.
