    Barts GEP or 5 year?

    Hi

I think I'mgonna apply to one course at Barts this year but don't know which one! I got quite a good UKCAT ave: 740 (750, 710, 750, 750) and I'm a graduate, but I only got a 2:1 in Forensic Science and I know they say that's fine, but with the amount of competition I'm thinking maybe it be better to apply to the 5 year! I also have pretty crappy high school grades, 3Bs 2Cs Scottish Highers! My PS should be good, worked in a hospital for a yar and plenty of volunteering, but I don't want to waste one of my four precious spots!!

    Any advice would be great!

p.s. Also applying to Glasgow, Aberdeen and Warwick(GEP)

Definitely go for the GEP. The cutoff this year was 680 so your UKCAT should be okay unless something radical happens. I can't comment on Scottish Highers but my GCSEs were dreadful and I only managed a 2.1 in Human Biology. Plus, this year I have friends on the 5 year who only applied for the GEP but were offered places on the 5 year instead. It would be a waste in my opinion to go for the 5 year if you can only apply for one of the courses.

Not as far as I know. The UKCAT cutoff increased a lot this year but I can't imagine it increasing by as much again next year

If you apply for the BArts GEP and don't get in they may offer you the 5yr.
And this year some who got offered the 5yr got bumped up to the 4yr due to people not getting their 2.1 or whatever in the summer
