looking at the time table for next year summer holiday gets shorter every year 16 weeks 1st year 11 weeks after 2nd year 8weeks in 4th year 4weeks before starting FY1 in 5th year... i think.... we share the same lecture theatre as the 2nd years for most of the lectures so as first year have them at 9 second year probably don't but may have other things on at 9? I don't know...

    Hi everyone.

I'm applying to King's and Bart's, but will be living outside London at the time. How much will it cost to commute five days a week?

Thanks for the sage advice TimmyF, but you're right, I wasn't very clear in the post. I was just amazed that anyone could afford to commute every day right into London. Last time I was down, a return from Luton, for example, to Euston was about 20 quid. Will it be costing everyone on this thread that much every day!?

Sorry if it sounded harsh. I live in Zone 4, but the other side of London from Barts. I work in Central London at the moment and it's costing me around £37 a week on Transport. They have a list of postcodes which they deem commuteable, so just have to see what they say. You can argue the toss with them, saying it'll cost you £100 a week to commute, but I would guess you live far enough away to get automatic halls.

I really should be revising, but for those who are unfamiliar with the student discounts, when you register with the uni, you can sign up for a student oyster card, which gives 30% off monthly and weekly passes. (needs to be renewed anually, costs £5 i think).
    I buy a zone 1-3 and it costs me a tad >£70 a month.
