What's in the Graduate 'Assesment Day'?

Okay, So I have my assesment day on the 18th febuary and it's about time I start to prepare.

Any current or prospective students got any advice/information on what will take part on the day?

I'm hearing news of video's, group tasks and written essays... :S

Any help would be very much appreciated x

I'm not going to tell you what's in it. But what you have heard is about right - you dont have a write an essay, but there
is a written task. Don't worry, it's not difficult and there are no right or wrong answers.
Dont worry, it's a really enjoyable day. Just give reasoned answers.

Does anyone know if the interviewers have read our personal statements/UCAS forms, or know anything about us?

If i remember rightly, they know nothing about you. Everyone gets easked exactly the same questions.
I believe the interviewers are people external to the university.

    Thanks, you've been really helpful!

Can you tell me any more about the course - is it 9-5 mainly? Are there any 8am lectures? What is the workload like? :-)

    No problem.

The course is really good, i am really enjoying it.

Mondays and Tuesdays are usually busy lecture days - 9 til 3 or 4 usually - but it does vary depending on what module you're doing. Wednesdays is 9-12/1... so we have the afternoon off to play sport etc. (or do work for the more diligent among you). Thursdays we spend either in hospital or GP doing some more practical things. And then Friday's back in uni for some lectures or pbl. But we rarely have a full day 9-5. Occasionally we have lectures with nurses on more general things - basic clinical skills, communication and medical ethics... so you certainly wont get bored!

The workload - i am not gonna lie - there is a lot. But its not so much hard, rather volume that's the issue. But it is do-able! Some things are easy and hard - different for everyone, dependant on previous degree. You will learn to be very organised! But there is still time for some social activities and go to the gym etc. so don't worry!

Were we supposed to have received a letter with details on what's happening on the assessment day? Mine's tomorrow and I haven't received anything!
