Btw how did you come by the information that we will hear next week?

Seems to be a storm of panic raging around here... to those who got lower than 665, the "cut-off" point according to aspiring fat medic and skittles87, I really wouldn't worry that much. There are people who get in every year with below the so-called cut off point. Secondly, your UKCAT is only a small part of your application. Above all, I doubt this cut off point for the UKCAT is an absolute requirement. Would they really turn away applicants whose application is otherwise fantastic?

i m not trying to scare anyone . i myself am in the same boat i only got 633 i clearly asked her that any1 with lower will get rejected and she said yes. below is the email i got i am really angry myself that they are basing the entire application on ukcat. i asked her on the phone and it was 5 yr not 4 yr course.

    Thank you for your email.

We have now decided the UKCAT cut off score for this year's applications to be 2660. Any score below this would have resulted in the rejection of an applicant's application.

    Regards

    Admissions

    dear sir/madam

have you decided the ukcat cutoff score for this year and can i assume that if anybody gets lower than the cutoff is going to get rejected.

    regards

I had my interview on the same day as you, it was a morning one (around 9:30 or something) and I thought it went ok... not amazing, but you never tell I suppose. Someone else (in this thread) called them up and were told that it would be approx 3 weeks, so I'm not really holding my breath about hearing til next wednesday!

With the UKCAT cutoff thing, surely the cut-off is exactly that? A Cut off which anyone below will not be accepted regardless of the rest of their application? I may misunderstand the idea of the cut-off, but that was my interpretation. Having said that, I have no doubt that the cut-off stated is preliminary as they can't know for sure exactly what the lowest mark in the UKCAT they will take is until after exam results day when they know for sure who got the grades and who didn't...

Yeah, unfortunately the rumours are true. I had an interview today and asked about the high UKCAT cut-off this year; the woman from Barts told me that due to the extra intake last year resources are stretched, and as a consequence far less interviews have been given this year (i.e. the UKCAT cut-off has increased as a result).

It's a shame that this should reject otherwise well qualified applicants, especially as university funding is due to substantially decrease for next year. It does state in the prospectus that the basis for interview is purely the UKCAT, and the PS only comes into play once you have been short-listed for interview to determine whether you will in fact receive an interview. Apparently there's still one more date to go, so still time

Good luck to those who didn't gain an interview with your other choices. It's a bad year for us, and it seems it's only going to get worse :s
