Hey there!Thanks for the info
but I'm concerned as I can't find any information for the cut off score on their website???
Was this cut off score for graduate entrants also - and not just for the 4yr?
I really wanted to apply to at least ONE london uni for the 5 year and thought Barts was my best bet???
Im so confused - this exam has really messed up my plans.
I was thinking of Southampton 5yr and BSMS and perhaps one london uni.....(again so confused)- how does that sound?
I'm very grateful for the advice!

Hey, no worries. I'm not sure if the cut-off score is on their website. I spoke to admissions on the phone. Their cut-off for the 5yr last year was 2450 (for both school leavers and graduates) and for the 4yr was 2690 (obviously or matures and graduates only). However, you could still apply for the Kings 5yr if you wanted to put a London uni down? I'm pretty sure their selection procedure has changed slightly to accommodate assessment of personal statements alongside ukcat ranking. Last year, the lowest ukcat an applicant that received an offer had was 513. (i think this is on their website - chick it out though for more details on their selection process).
Biomedical Sciences BSc Hons.

Leeds 5yr - Rejected
Kings 5yr - Rejected
Queen Mary's 5yr - Interview - Rejected
Chinese Med Schools:
Huazhong Uni - Offer
Wuhan Uni - Offer
Zhejiang Uni - Offer - Yeahhh!!!
Woohoo - liberation! Goodbye shitty UK!

I don't like discouraging people from going for something they want, because you don't know which way your luck is gonna swing sometimes, but if you feel the other areas of your application aren't strong enough to pull you up and get you back-up offers elsewhere, then it might be advisable to avoid Barts. You never know though. Word has gotten out that the UKCAT cut-off is increasing, so the people with lower scores might avoid Barts and bring the average for applicants down...it's your call.
Psshyeah...
BARTS AND THE LONDON 09!...this scares me.

How strict are Barts about having AS Chemistry for GEP? I'm doing Neuroscience and it says they want it, but I don't have it. I could just about warrant trying to do the AS next year, although I'll be a finalist and applying then, and anticipate having a hard enough time finishing my degree whilst applying without doing AS chem on top.
Also has anyone ever tried doing a module of chemistry outside of their course, for example I could try and get onto one or two of the first year chemistry modules here at my university as I could probably catch up enough over the summer to do them in my free time as free standing modules.

Hey fivefour, just beware that the UKCAT cutoff for the A100 5 yr course has increased from 2450 for '09 entry to 2660 for '10 entry! I don't think anyone saw that coming! Barts rely very heavily on the UKCAT and don't consider your personal statement until you're confirmed as above the cut-off. But then who's to know what will happen to the cut-off next year...I heard the problems this year were to do with over offering last year :s

LOL it wasn't exactly over offering, more that more people were taking up the offers rather than going elsewhere, apparently. The emergence of a certain report listing Barts as being quite high up the 'league table' of unis for research soon before that may or may not have had something to do with it...
For whatever reason, it has gotten to be a more popular choice these days than when I was originally applying. It does mean that they will need to adjust how many offers they give, but that's not unusual, as universities all have a similar system that they fine-tune whenever needed.~Biomed Grad studying Med 5 Year~

I think they will want it. If you haven't seen it, this page has all degrees listed and for Neuroscience it says they want AS Chemistry. My degree was in Chemistry so I am currently studying AS-Biology and need to get a B. They do say you could do a module as part of your degree - but I think you'd need to get it appearing on your actual degree transcript. Would you be able to do that?
