Pass rates, drop out rates at Barts?

Please could anyone tell me the pass rates for the year 1 exams and the drop out rates on the GEP course? Also the number of students shown the door after the phase 1 GEP exams?

There aren't any phases at Bart's, just years 1-4, so if you mean the end of pre-clinicals, thats the end of year 1. I'm not sure how many people are kicked out after year 1 as i'm only in year 1 now, but there was a rumour that last year 7 people had to resit, and 3 people failed the resits. So 3 out of 45.

As to dropouts, there haven't been any, except for 1 person who had a very unusual situation that i won't go into, and doesn't really count.

Thanks for tor the reply. The 3 that failed, were they asked to leave or repeat the year? Also what is your impression of the teaching at Barts so far and your overall impression of the course?

If you fail resits i think you need very good extenuating circumstances to be allowed to take the year again, it hasn't been discussed really but you would probably have to leave.
You get lots of exam practice over the year, and i think if you put in the work most people are fine.

Teaching is up and down, sometimes lectures don't cover the objectives were given, anatomy leaves a bit to be desired and PBL takes some getting used to. Its pre-clinical medicine though, its going to be a bit sh#t wherever you do it. Its a small group at Barts, which is a plus i think.

I second what someone else on here said about feedback - they constantly badger you to fill in forms, and having spoken to people in the year above i know they take it on board and have made some changes.

To be honest medicine is medicine, there will be good and bad points everywhere. I think gut instinct is the best thing to follow.
