Barts GEP vs Warwick GEP
Hi everyone,
I'm in a bit of a dilemma: Barts GEP or Warwick GEP?
Has anyone any thoughts to help me out?
Cheers,

hiya!
what attracts you to barts and what attracts you to warwick?
which gives you that sudden rush of energy and excitement (weird I know but trust me on this!)? This is important because if the course gets hectic and you feel a little down and think to yourself "why did I choose this med school?" you can think back to how you felt initially and it gives you that boost that you need to continue. (I hope you never feel bad though x x)
Have you visited both?

Hi
I am in the same position, and my heart really isnt being helpful at the minute! Silly heart :-) Am hoping it will decide after the open day at Barts.
Just incase there is anything on my lists that can be of any help ill write them, but all the information is just my understanding of things, i dont know for sure it is completely correct!! So no one shout at me please for writing the wrong information :-)
Ok the way the topics are organised seem different to me. At Warwick i think it is where you study multiple topics over a semester, as in you might study the gastrointestinal system every tuesday morning for the whole semester. Whereas at Barts it seems more like you would do 2 or 3 whole weeks on the gastrointestinal system before moving on to something else. So it just depends which learning style you prefer.
Both seem to have large group work components, i think Barts has PBL group work whereas Warwick has group work straight after the lectures, i'm not entirely sure what the difference is?
I imagine that London would cost a lot more than Warwick.
Warwick is only going to have graduates whereas Barts has a mixture.
I cant find any information about whether you can do an elective abroad at Barts, but i know you definitely can at Warwick, i also have heard a lot about summer volunteering things abroad at Warwick. I'm saying Barts doesnt have these things i just havent seen them.
For me, although London is closer to my home (about an hour on the train) Warwick is more geographically convienient because my fiance wont want to drive into london but he would drive to Warwick. Also while it is cheaper to get a train from my house to London, i worked out with the 1700 i would be saving a year on not having a tube card, i would be able to buy enough return train tickets to Warwick to come home every week! And if i go to Warwick i am hopefully going to take my test before the second phase so i can easily get to placements. I don't know what driving in London is like but obviously there is the tube so you dont need a car.
i think they are all the points i had. Are you going to the Barts open day? See i didn't go to a Warwick one (i thought there would be a post offer one grr) but i had my interview there so i saw it a little bit. Maybe we will just know in our hearts after that.
Hope this is of some help. Maybe spend one day pretending to yourself you are going to Barts and the next Warwick and see which feels feels better inside :-)
princess.
