If someone told me it's two to one I would still be obsessing that I would be one of the two but not the one. Will this information really make you happy?
Could end up at any one of these by 2010:
King's College London. That'd be for 5 years.
Hull or York. Again, this would be for half a decade.
Leeds. I imagine that it's not quite five years actually, but that's the general idea.
Cambridge. The idea here is that you spend three years and nine months becoming a doctor. That really is quite a bit less than 4 years.

Might even end up at Oxford. I threw in PPP as a long shot. I like Biology that much.

yes, because i wont obsess like you. i just like good odds in this scenario as im not overly impressed with my interview skills

i'd rather not chat about what article i got btw. i dont mean to be rude but i just dont really want to talk about the interiew until after it happens

OK fine, it's fair enough. They interview in excess of 950 people and make around 600 offers. Then there are 277 places available. You happy?
I'm not necessarily an obsessive. I like to know the odds too. But it only creates an artificial sense of security about my chances after that.

Someone sounds testy! I reckon it's about 2:1 - pretty good chances. Overall, your chances of getting an offer for any medical school is 43%(ish) - hope that helps!

I thought we all got the same article.

If you're not overly impressed with your interview skills, then the odds change and they're stacked against you anyway. Bad interviewee then has to square off against the odds that at least 349 peoples are worse than him. I'm not that great at probability but I think that changes things. 3:1 x 2:1 = 6:1 maybe? Then factor in the fact that said bad interviewee has to then fulfill conditions of his offer, which is again stacked at about 2:1 according to the statistics of offers. 12:1 odds of actually getting a place? Then factor in all the numerous things that could possibly go wrong over the next few weeks and the odds dwindle even further. Say 100:1?

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just pointing out the fact that knowing the odds doesn't make a damn bit of difference if you think you're going to give a bad performance. When my interview comes, I'm going to be determined to be the one and not just one of the two. I would never bet on the other person being worse than me. I'll bet on myself being good enough to get a place. Put my confidence all in me.
