2009 UKCAT cut-off score
The UKCAT cut-off score in 2007 and 2008 entry was 600. Does anybody know what the UKCAT cut-off score will be for 2009 entry? Will it stay the same? Post any info you have here.

I contacted Barts.
"There is no
UKCAT cut off per se. It is decided on a year by year basis, and is
dependant upon the scores of the candidates and the number of candidates
we would like to interview. As such, the cut off score changes every year."
Indeed, noone knows. Not even them.

The UKCAT score seems to be such a stubling block when chosing where to apply! Im just wondering wether that 600 from last year was for the 5 year or the 4 year? As i have ABC at a-level i dont think i can apply to the 5 year one-nightmare! Im hoping 640 average may be enough :S

I just rang them.......apparently it is 600 what they are looking for. However when they advertise 45 places on the 4 year, 5 of these are reserved for international students, plus 16 are reserved for essex and Queens students. This would make to me 24 places......whcih perhaps is pretty low and maybe would stand a better chance applying to the 5 year. Sorry I seem to be thinking out loud here, but hope it helps someone

Yeh, I know from speaking to admissions that the average they look for every year is 600 (2400 total), though this is subject to change depending on the cohort.
Also: the average above is only for the 5 year course; you can bet money that the GEP has a higher UKCAT cut-off.

just try not to panic, i found it helped me out a lot (know easier said then done) and personally found the long practice test a lot harder than the real one, i found was more like the short practice test

I applied to both at Barts' for various reasons, mostly to do with improving my chances of getting in. I remember being told that you can't be shunted to the 5 year course if you fail to get on to the GEP. They're treated as two separate courses, hence my two choices for Barts...
