    How Close is too Close?

Okay guys this is a bit of a dilemma. I really want to move out into the big wide world that is uni lifestyle but i think i live too close to Barts to be able to gain accommodation =(. I know that priority goes to people who live outside the M25 but i live in it, on the district line at the very end in Hornchurch/Upminister region. Would that be too close to be able to get accommodation?

    Thank youuu

    Love ..NT.. xx

I have been told you have to live more than 30 minutes - 1 hour away to get campus residence. Try TFL, work out how long it should take you to get to uni.

lol, i totally get you NT. But last year you had to be over an hour away + past m25 to get accom. And as soon as the waiting list opened they said you had to be over 1.5 hours away.

In saying that I do know people who got in form hornchurch/essex but I think they all took gap years and had unconditional offers.

There are 3 private student halls (Unite) that exist that are nearby and are only interested in your cash.

    NT,

Well you get to rank your halls in order of preference 1. 2. 3.

So as the halls are popular in the order pooley/mile end, floyer, dawson, intercollegiate I suppose it does make sense to reverse the choices. Although this wont get around their rules about the distance of your parental home. I would say going in to talk.plead to the accomodation office would be the best thing to do, they are very sympathetic and nice and may be of help.

This was also a problem for me so I have researched it quite a bit.

You can use this to see how far you are:

Use your house post code and whitechapel hospital post code (E1 1BB) for maximum distance.

    lionella,

There are some brand new student halls nearby:

Rahere court is a popular one but make sure you apply earlyish.

Failing both, I noticed that nearly everyone from whatever distance on the waiting list eventually got offered a place in halls in oct, nov or jan as some people dropped out of halls.

Thank you Bennett you're so much help!

I may go plead at the accommodation office.

I put in my address in the link you provided and it takes me approx. around 1 hour to get to Royal London Hospital from my house.

I really dont want to travel
