Hi,
I’ve got an interview for the Barts GEP sometime in March but I have no medically related work experience. I have voluntary experience working for a local community centre organising sports events to keep kids occupied during the summer but no experience working in a GP office, Hospital ect.
The problem is, I graduated, like many of you, with considerable debts and therefore have been working hard to keep afloat since. I currently work 6 days a week and can not afford to take days off to get some kind of work experience. I know it’s pathetic and a lot of you guys have managed to combine the two but I’m finding it difficult.
A lot of the hospitals I’ve tried have refused me for insurance reasons.
Has anyone got any advice? What does not kill us, makes us stronger!

Not that I practice what I preach, but you could try volunteering in a nursing home, shelter or hospice.
Good luck in your interview

well ive read in the past that unis realise that it can be hard to get med-related wk experience so they welcome all types of voluntary wk/ w/e, esp if it involves team-working, which u seem to have experience of. try nursing homes, they're never short of helpers!
the sun's melting my face but i'm still smiling
