    Lennon's Barts page

    Hey everyone,

I am a 1st year in Barts, and I am loving every moment of it. I simply cant explain how glad I am to be here. After being unlucky in being rejected by 3 london unis last year (Imperial, Kings & Georges), I now feel there could only be one place for me and its Barts.

Apart from the new student village which is fab, your fellow medics here are so friendly and I mean it (I had about 25 people in my kitchen seeing me cut the cake for my birthday, what a day). The course PBL, in my opinion, is a very good way in doing medicine, I would not be able to sit in lecture halls for two years (trust me, I thought I could stand it before, but only after a few lectures on medicine, I wanted to kill myself), trust me, PBL is worth it. No other London unis do PBL, so dont count Barts out too soon.

Well, the East end may seem a bit rough, and to be fair, it is. But you know, thats the beauty of it. Go down to St. Barts hosiptal in Barbican and you will see why Barts medics are so proud of their medical school and its history. It is surely a great place to do medicine, it is no insurance place.

Anyway, I wish you all good luck, and if any of you have any questions on Barts, feel free to ask.

    Lennon

No there aren't students under `8 in my year. You have to be at least 18 to start the course here at Barts

i just want to point out that most unis do PBL (however small or large that component might be) We do PBL here at Imperial - i have a presentation to do this thursday!! I'm actually 99% certain the rest of the London medical schools do PBL aswell

I think there is a PBL component here as well, so far we have only had lectures, dissection, tutorials and a few things in the lab.

our 'PBL' is so small its easy to overlook. The only thing we've had which constitues as PBL is the Sickle Cell Anaemia and CHD workshops. Hardly something to get excited about. Makes a nice change from lectures though...

I don't know why they called it a PSW, it was just more of a class and it did not require any research or self teaching.
