Grads going on 5 year course
I have an offer for the 5 year course at Barts and am thinking pretty seriously of taking it as I liked the feel of the place when I was round there.
I was just wondering if there were any othe Grads out there thinking of going on the 5 year course? I guess I just need some reassurance that I won't be the only grey hair out there!

I am an oldie graduate too. I am 27 (28 upon entry) and have an offer for this September. In a recent survey of medical schools (I think by the Guradian) Barts got the maximum points for 'Inclusiveness' i.e. the range of applicants in terms of age, ethnic diversity, disability etc that it offers places to. Furthermore, I hear it is also a place where the oldies mix with the 'kids' very easily. So the moral of the story is just relax.
Why does a fat chance mean the same thing as a slim chance?

Hello there,
Sorry to butt in... I'm a 25 year-old graduate leaving my current profession in September to take Biology and Chemistry at college and work part-time as an HCA. Although I've yet to attend an open day, on paper, Barts is looking like my ideal first choice.
I was wondering whether anybody could fill me in on how they came to get an offer from Barts. By which I mean, did you apply with a science undergraduate degree and get an unconditional offer? Alternatively did you take A levels and, if so, what was your offer? etc...
All help is much appreciated.
Cheers.

Hello Yup,
I think I remember reading another post of yours.
Many congratulations on getting there - you must be all made up!
Can I ask, do you recall Barts being particularly keen on any particular kind of work experience/positions of responsibility/extracurricular interests front? A geriatric (oh, excuse me - I meant "elderly care patient"...) such as myself can't afford to make anything less than a comprehensive application.

I'm a grad, and have been offered a place on the 5 year. I am 22, and graduated with a 2:1 in Biology from Durham in 2004. I really liked the feel of Barts when I was there for my interview. Glad to hear that there are so many other grads included in the intake. Are you all planning to live in the student village halls?

It's excellent to hear of so many people being successful in their applications - hopefully, this time next year, I'll be in the same position.
