Overseas applicant to Australia: beware
All,
Australia has recently followed the UK and created its very own medical graduate tsunami. The Federal government has funded these placess... but no one told the State governments and it is they who fund internships (~ UK F1 & F2).
The upshot is that each state does not have enough post-MBBS training places and are starting to prioritise applicants.
Overseas applicants to NSW should be aware that there is NO GUARANTEE of a training place despite soft assurances. This year is the first that in NSW there were more applicants than internships and the inernational students are the first to miss out.
If you want more info on this, check out my blog:
Methuselah the Medical Student: Internships
Please bear this in mind before applying to Australia.
Cheers
