effect on HR of decreased SVP

    Hey guys,

I just wondered if any of you guys out there could help me out on this problem. I know that is systemic vascular resistance is decreased, the afterload will also decrease - does this mean that stroke volume will therefore increase ?? - and what effect will it have on heart rate?

    Cheers x

I think that stroke volume would increase because cardiac output is equal to (arterial blood pressure minus mean systemic pressure) divided by the resistance of the arterial system.
It would not have any effect on heart rate because that is controlled by autonomic innervation of the heart.
