I have just finished first year at Newcastle and they told us to get Moore and Dalley. It is a good book, I've enjoyed using it. Maybe Garys is on the recommended reading?

There is absolutely no competition on this one. Moore and Dalley rules the show. It's got everything plus more.

You just need to know how to use it.

Well, i'm going to have to sit on the fence...

I use both books for different reasons, i don't think either book stands alone, but that depends on the level of detail you like..

I use Grays to get a good understanding of the anatomy, then turn to Moore and Dalley for the clinical context. The blue boxes are fabulous for quick revision.

I know at Warwick they recommend Moore and Dalley, but i would've been really stuck without Gray's last semester...i appreciate the detail they go into, it's got good, clear pictures and the online support is pretty good too.

Moore and Agur's Essential clinical anatomy was indispensable to me during the last few hours before my anatomy exam! It's good if you need a straightforward answer at your fingertips..

well they're quite expensive, i'd get clinically oriented and then just take grays out of the library when you need it tbh

Just a note on loans from the library,how long can you take the books out?Apparently the law department only have loan periods of a day!

Ahh... it does rather depends on which university you are at!

The only medical library that I have ever used is university of Durham, which has books that can be taken out for either 1 month (in the case of most texts), 3 days (for high demand books) and 24 hours (for the reserve collection). As a rule there is at least one copy of every book in each category.

In general though it isn't really that important which anatomy textbook you have... If you get one of the two that have been under discusion on this thread you will be ok, best idea is to just look at them both in the library and see which one you like the look of. Buy that one, and you probably won't bother looking at any others that often anyway.

Hi Bro..
If U Want To Pass The Exam Study any book you will Pass

But if you want to Be A good Doctor
I advice To Have :

LAST`S Anatomy

Take My Advice and Try Its Quit a Hard book but i`m sure u will get use
Best Book Ever u Will know that in later years

at bham last year we had anatomy workbooks which were based on clin. oriented anatomy.
what i would do is to complete my workbook as much as poss using clin. or. back in halls and then go to the library for 10 or 15 mins and look up anything that wasn't clear in grays, because it has such great diagrams!
we have short loan books = back within 24 hours
or long loan books = back in a week
you may be able to take a book out for longer, but you can just renew long loan books and you can do it online as well i believe, good if you can't get to the library
some books you have to get out quick before anyone else does, like a few days before our digestive and renal in course assessment, the recommended digestive and renal books were all gone!

Ah thats kool.Well I'm gonna buy most of the books because I had that problem at college-most of the books you need are taken for ages and thats REALLY annoying to say the least!
