Just to make a correction here - if you get a place on the Carmel College course, and get 70%+, then you *are* guaranteed a place on Year One Medicine at Liverpool University. No further interview is required. If you have the academic credentials to get on the course in the first place, and put the effort in subsequently, 70%+ is totally achievable.

Are you sure themedicformerlyknownas? If so, that's great news. But I had a careers discussion (At Liverpool University) and he told me you wasn't guaranteed a place. Hence recommended the foundation year at Manchester (or Sheffield). Hmm.

Hi! I have just finished Year Zero at Carmel! ...I even saw my tutor yesterday, and she was telling me what I could look forward to in Year One.
Some info on the course here ("...successful completion to the specified standard ensures automatic progression..."):
Foundation to Health and Veterinary Studies (Year 0) - University of Liverpool
I believe that there is a similar course at Liverpool Community College, which *doesn't* guarantee progression. Maybe the person you spoke to has confused the two? Bit of a pain if so, for both you and the uni. :/

I agree, when I spoke to the course director for Carmel last year they said you were pretty much guaranteed to pass if you put in the time and effort, and guaranteed progression to medicine. I only turned it down due to the percentage of students that weren't as happy with the overall degree. Either way, just getting in is a huge accomplishment no matter which med school! I have to say the staff on the phone at Liverpool were extremely helpful and friendly!
