Thanks for the input delta, much appreciated. I reckon you're right. Looking like you've put lots of effort in is always better than no effort at all.
Thanks again mate

Hi,
New to the site here.
Currently mid way through online application for Access to Medicine for this year.
I'm finding that there isn't a great deal of space to write in a personal statement or to write much about previous activities in the small boxes and no way to add a covering letter.
Best to write in what I can or apply by post and supply covering letter?
Really keen to get on the course as I imagine everyone is so any advise would be much appreciated.
Also does anyone have experience of having to do a GCSE alongside this course? I have all but Maths but could hopefully do alongside Access??
Thanks for any help inadvance!!

hello PMHogan, good to have you on the forums.
I also had the same problem with my application as I thought there wasn't enough space. I basically just compressed my personal statement and tried to explain my motives and why I wanted to pursue medicine. My advice would be to try and make it short, but really effective at the same time. Hopefully they'll contact you for an interview and that's where you can talk about the stuff on your personal statement. With regards to resitting Maths GCSEs alongside the course, I believe it is possible as I have a couple of friends retaking their Maths GCSEs alongside the access to medicine course.

Thanks for the welcome Qualityassured.
Also, thanks for clarifying. Have you applied for this year? Heard anything yet?
I just don't want to be unable to get my motives across and then not get an interview!!
Have you heard of many applications not even getting an interview?
Thanks again!!

Hi pmhogan and welcome
I'm applying this year to the northendun campus, and hoping to do my maths gcse along side it too. When I had my interview, I was told that it would be perfectly acceptable to do a gcse along side the access so you should be fine.
The whole interview thing across both campuses is a bit odd; at nicholls most people have gone for the assessment and were advised that they would hear whether they had an interview, whereas at the northendun campus I had my assessment and interview in one hit and will find out around May time as to whether I have gotten on the course ..hope that helps
What campus are you applying to? And have you applied elsewhere?

Thanks for getting back to me on that! Any extra info is much appreciated and it's definitely good to hear that it's still a viable prospect, even having to do Maths GCSE alongside!!
Did you have the same problem submitting your application online and not having much room to write anything? Where abouts did you write a personal statement?
Thanks again to anybody coming back with information, it really does help set minds at ease and I'll be more than happy to do the same if and when I get to the next stages!!

Sorry, forgot to answer your questions.
I am applying to Nicholls but could go to either so was also wondering if Nicholls was full would we be considered for Northended??
I haven't applied anywhere else. Would be a major difficulty, having to move etc. Don't know of any other colleges in the North West that do Access to Medicine....
