Hello Quality assured.
Interview went ok I suppose, it was just a chat really.
I was a bit confused though as I thought they would have asked me "Why Med" ect, but the gentleman just told me about funding, the course structure and where the student infromation and guidence centre was.
Didn't really get a chance to sell my self.
Hard to tell how it went, fingers crossed though.

It was a pretty strange interview. It was more or less just a guy filling in a form with information I had already given with my application. As Doctorteeth said, it was quite hard to sell yourself so who knows???

AndyC I didn't get a good feeling from it to be honest, he also told me they discourage people retaking GCSE's when on the course.
Very confused but again who knows???????/

I'm not really sure how they are able to tell who would be a good candidate through that kind of interview. I'm pretty sure all the information I gave them I had already given them the initial application form.
Manchester is my only option for an access course at the moment because I got a rejection from Sussex and didnt apply anywhere else. Fingers crossed, but I cant say I have been a fan of their application process. Doesnt seem like a good judge of someone's chances of getting into medical school.
But what would I know!

I had an inerview at the College of West Anglia for their access course, it went well and they accepted me on the spot.
Very happy with that, whatever happens with Manchester now I know I will be starting an access course in September.
Huge relief!!!! I hope you get a good response AndyC

Hey so I'm 19 and I've applied here
Got a letter I have an interview on the 26th June at the Northen campus
I was just thinking I know this course is for mature students, so will my chance of getting into this course be less likely? :S Thanks.

Hi Mathsfreak
When I had my interview he did mention that younger applicants do have less chance of getting onto the course - purely because of the lack of experience and such. However, I'm 21 and I was told I have a good chance of getting on and getting into Medical school. Another girl who was in my group was told she won't have a good chance of getting on cos she'd literally just finished her A levels and hadn't had any experience.
What are your personal circumstances?

Oh dear, well I'm turning 20 in october. I didn't even do half of my A-levels due to family problems which my school is aware off, I was predicticed A's. I have quite alot of experience. I did alot in my first year I.e charity shop, Hospital, Pharmacy etc..do you think that would be enough? I'm really worried that I won't get in and this is my last shot at Medicine. Thanks for the reply.

I don't see why you wouldn't stand a chance them. The course is designed for people with no science a levels or on a levels but with experience to be able to do medicine but different people have different circumstances. I applied because I did my a levels in non science subjects and went on to study something I didn't feel passionate about but now want to do medicine. Your circumstances are probably true of many people applying....so just because your younger shouldn't hinder you too much..But you'll have to see what they say at your interview. Good luck x
