    Alternate routes?

my name is hussein, i live in england just outside of london and have my heart set on medicine but unfortunately not the grades to match.

    GCSE:
    English Literature - A
    English Language - A
    Maths - A
    Biology - A*
    Chemistry - A*
    Physics - A*
    Art - A*(full marks)
    ICT - A*
    French - A
    Drama - A
    RS - A*

However after a relieving set of GCSE grades , my AS results were quite poor and slightly bewildering , how did i do so badly i asked myself?

    AS Level:
    Art - B ( one mark of A)
    Biology - C (one mark of B)
    Geography - C (one mark of B)
    Chemistry - C (fair way from a B :-P)

my prediction's in that order are ABBC
    - obviously not grades that i can even apply with
i would like to ask the community what would be the best route to medicine would be for me

    - obviously i am retaking the modules and hopefully could receive better grades at A - level

    - I have done a fair amount of work experience at hospitals, surgery's , old people's home and have a regular placement at a day hospice

    - i'd prefer not to do post grad medicine just because the tuition fees become tremendously high in 2012

feel free to ask me any question's :-)

    salaams hussein,

you are right, your GCSEs are excellent. if you haven't taken the A2 exams yet, surely, there's still the possibility you can bring your AS grades up?
also, look into all the unis that accept retakes- there definitely are out there- and ensure that your application is watertight in other ways. also, what about the possibility of going for dentistry/ optometry and then transferring? that seems to work for alot of people.

and if worse comes to worse, remember the sky will not fall down if you end up going down another route.
