I have completed my GCSE with 98% overall in Biology Chemistry Physics Maths English ((All A*s))
I then did my Access to Medicine Dent. and Pharmacy course in manchester college in year 04/05. I achieved a Distinction.
I then did not get accepted on any of the Medical schools I applied for as I was 19 at the time and the course was for mature students. The college did not explain that to me at the time.
As an international student, I was sponsored by my government and my scholarship had a deadline and couldn't keep trying to get into med school. I decided at the time to do Pharmacy and so I did.
Unfortunately, my level went downhill and I graduated with a 2.2. This was due to many reasons which affected my mental and physical wellbeing.
I am very keen to make the dream of my life come true.
Do you think my past qualification grades could stand for me? for example Brighton and Sussex Med school?
I currently practice in Hospital and have done a lot of volunteering in the past. I have also worked as a translator for three years in hospitals.
thanks for your time guys and hope to hear from you all.
It is a sad but annoyingly true story as what can happen when information doesnt get correctly passed on.
I believe that the access course results last for 5 years after completion (I may be wrong and so if anyone wants to correct me please do). In my opinion, you should write to a few universities and ask them for advice and tell them of your situation. It is what I did and they were extremely helpful in telling me what I needed to do to get the requirements to apply for medicine.
As long as you show determination and willing, that is all they are really looking for in terms of desire (grades aside of course). If your access course is out of date, they might require you to sit a foundation year or do a few examinations - but again I am no expert and it might be different for each uni.
Just email the medical or admissions dean and ask for their help in your situation. Just tell them that you have always had a desire to do medicine and you would be willing to do whatever is required to get in etc etc. They should tell you paths to take or what is needed for their specific institution.
You seem to have a solid foundation of work experience and you can always build on that if required. Just use all of what you have done and what you plan to do to convey in the email how much you actually want to do medicine and hopefully you should be allowed a chance to prove it
Not sure if that actually helps but it is close enough to what I did - I had issues at my 1st degree and then did an access course after getting advice from some medical admission people - and I am now going into 3rd year at Aberdeen. So it can work if you just show how much you want to do it.
Hey everyone,
Just wondering what sorts of things I should be looking out for in the Abstract reasoning part of the UKCAT, ive only tried a few but theyre tough!
Thanks
Hello all, wondering if any of you can help.

with a score of 68 if divided by 3, 64 if Sec. 3 is...
Hi guys,
Great news, I know they said 6 weeks, but I got an offer through today, woohoo.
Sent my acceptance back right away.
So excited now.
Anybody else get one?
The paper was not really what we were expecting anyway, in terms of following a syllabus - more to do with luck. I guess if you get your head down and get some questions you're familiar with then you...
Given that you didn't do any prep and you've come out with a score 11-12 points below what you require I don't think it's a losing battle at all. If you didn't revise then you won't hit the right...
