Advice pleaseeeee
Hi Im a student in chester doing biomedical science, I want to study medicine after this degree, but the only issue i have is poor a levels. I only achieved a D in physics and biology and an E in chemistry.
I do voulenteer work at a Multiple sclerosis center and have spent the last week with orthopedic surgens at my loacal hospital where i went into the opperating rooms and spend time with 5 different surgens and joined them in there clinics also.
I work part time in a super market and have a summer job working at a playscheme which i figured would show how i 'work with the local community'
i have been on visits to the hospital labs at wrexham and chester and also attended the national pathology week at the hospital in chester.
I am working hard to bulk up my application with 'extra' things but worry that because of my poor a levels ill be dismissed before they even look at what ive been doing? i am doing well in my degree and have just finished my first year and i am sat at the top of the class (i am also the student rep for the year)
Any advice on whether u think my alevels will be an issue or what i could do to better them would be great. I realy want this and dont want to be held back becuase of poor a levels...
Thanks for your time

As long as you do well in your degree, can get together a strong personal statement and do well enough in the entry tests, there is no reason that you would need to worry about your A levels.
Many of the graduate entry courses available don't look at A levels at all. For more information see here:
Medschoolsonline - Medical Course Guide for Graduates - Graduate Entry 4-Year Courses
There are also a couple of five year courses which also don't require A levels if you have a degree. However I would suggest that as you will be a biomedical science graduate you should be able to get together a competitive enough application for the graduate courses.
Hope that helps. If you want any more advice feel free to message me.2010 Entry:
Newcastle GEP - one year down, three to go!
UKCAT - 692.5 average
Degree: 1st in Biomedical Science
