The title is to the point which is what matters
I have a lot of respect for you wanting to study medicine with your existing family committments; I thought I had it hard! Having applied to COWA in the past, once an application is submitted how long do they tend to aknowledge the application or even offer an interview??

Hey,
I have a place for 2011 (initially applied for 2010 but I deferred my place). I applied in mid-October last year and received acknowledgement of my application about a week later. Then heard from them again mid-December inviting me for interview in mid-January. I got offered a place at the interview but I know other people had to wait to hear because they had to check their references/previous qualifications etc.

Hi lucky13,
I am pleased to here that you already have your place at CWA sorted for 2011. As someone who has already gone through this process would you be able to offer the likes of me some advice/tips?? I am in the process of writing up my 250 words for the online application form and keep delaying sending it until I know that I have done it well. :$
If you do not mind me askign what is you academic/work background prior to applying for this course?
Thanks
Kyle

I'll add my congratulations for lucky13 too (the name is definitely not a misnomer, eh?). I applied last year for the course, but after not realising I'd missed putting my GCSE Maths grade (a C) on my application form, I was turned down and all further correspondence went unreplied to
. I've put a new application in or this year though, but am paranoid about my personal statement. I don't know whether it's the sort of thing they're looking for, but hopefully time will tell! I am applying to Sussex Downs too, not sure which I would prefer as they both come highly recommended. I hope you hear back soon Kid1987 (and I do too

Thankyou Skinnerman, I have not yet sent my application as I was in the same mind as you as to how reflective the application had to be in the 250 words personal statement type part so I have been putting off sending in my application. Do not know whether you can give me any advice? What is your background prior to the access course if you do not mind me asking?
Thanks
Kyle

Well, I just sent mine in - I could have deliberated until the cows come home! It was relatively reflective, but I don't know if it dwelled too much on the past rather than the future. My background is relatively chequered! Finished sixth form with mediocre results as I had no intention of going to university (which I regret), worked in a variety of jobs before ending up as an HCA at a hospital. From there, I started a university course in Nursing. During the course, I realised that the nursing jobs that I wanted to do (practitioner roles) are traditionally medic roles, so why not do medicine instead? The more I looked into it the more I liked the idea, so I left the course and am trying to get on to an Access course! So a bit odd, frankly.

Thanks Lewis,
I wonder if I too should just bite the bullet too and send in my application - thing is it is more than 250 words but not sure whether they will penalise for this.
