Worried my application might not have been recieved (or rejected).

Hi guys, been using this site for past few weeks, really like it! Discovered it while I was looking at Access to Medicine courses and UKCAT information.

Anyways, I applied for Stow College and COWA'a medicine courses 3 weeks ago (Stow via the post, and COWA via online). Haven't heard a word back from Stow on whether my applications even been recieved or anything, so a little worried there. I got an email from COWA 2 weeks ago saying my application will be passed to the Course Director for short-listing.

Little nerve racking just waiting for a letter or an email. Really am so determined and focused to do this course, that I can't bare the thought of not getting a place at anything for this year, and having to wait until August 2011. I'm 21 years old (been 4 years since I left high school), with 3 years experience working in a nursing home, and live in Glasgow. Not sure if I would be disadvantage or not because of my age maybe being younger than other applicants.

    Thanks

    Stephen

    Hey

I don't know about Stowe but I applied for A2M at COWA mid-October last year and got the "your application has been received" e-mail about a week or so later, then didn't hear anything until the middle of December when they invited me for an interview which was the middle of January, so I wouldn't stress too much that you haven't heard anything from COWA yet - they interview right up until August - and from what you've said about your work experience you sound like you have a pretty decent shot of getting in.

Got a rejection letter from COWA today, saying they can't accept me because I don't have a GCSE in Maths.....which I find a little unfair considering I have the Scottish equivalent, but I guess Scottish grades aren't taken into consideration

So that just leaves Glasgow now.....got a letter a fortnight ago saying my application has been recieved and is being considered, but I don't feel very optimistic now, especially as it's been like 2 months almost since I sent my application to them.

Will be gutted if don't get a place.Even just to get an interview would be great, so I can state my case

    Hi Mate,

If you have standard grade maths then you are eligible for COWA it just depends on your grade. I thrashed this out with them too, I think you need to annoy them as it seems they dont pay too much attention to the applications.

standard grade 2 for maths....even then, that was like 6 years ago I sat that, so as an adult course, you wouldn't expect them to be nit picking on that

    Hi Mate,

I got standard grade 4 and that was 13 yrs ago, from what I understand a 2 is fine. You should continue to annoy them dont give up, if its your dream dont let admissions fob you off.

As an example they asked if I had English, which is cleary on my application and also on the word document I provided with my qualifications at their request. It also detailed my degree in nursing, both which they did'nt spot. So I dont think the admissions attention to detail is the best. Keep at them!

    Scott.

Thanks for the advice! Will send a polite letter to admissions enquiring about my application, stating that I do feel qualified to do this course, and that my standard grade maths should be eligible....I think maybe because COWA is online application, they just skim over the grades for GCSE, and will cut you off if they don't see that.
