They should be sending out letters next week regarding glasgow. But I think they have already interviewed people they are seriously interested in from what I have heard through the grapevine, but it might NOT be true, so take this comment with a huge pinch of salt I guess.
4th year BA (Hons) Nursing Studies student, predicted 2.1

hi there, just needed to get some information about my chances if anyone knows. I have a degree 2:1 in the arts and have chem and biology A levels at D and E. so i decided to do the access to medicine program to help my application. im a bit confused cause some medical schools i hear would not consider me cause i initially had a levels before doing the access course. does anyone know if i should just apply to uni with my degree and the access course or also add my a level results.

I sent mines 10/02/10, got an acknowledegment lettter at the beginning of March, and that's all I've heard so far. Not feeling so optimistic as of now, as I feel that they would have gotten back to me sooner if Glasgow were really interested. Still no reply from COWA enquiring about accepting standard grades instead of GCSE's so will probably write them a letter intead of an email now....

Hello!
Firstly congrats to all who will be taking this course and have been accepted!! CONGRATS!
Secondly I hope all goes well for all of you who´s waiting for replies from the college.
I have a few questions in regards to this course - I am really confused and any info would be great=)
I am attending this course this year as soon as I send in my deposit.
Is there anyone in here familiar with the IELTS? How hard is it? How long does it last for?
I was looking through the "acceptance" list on COWA website and it is reálly long which is positive but when I called the uni´s up they were not as positive with answering my questions about how big of a chance we actually have coming from COWA.. (don´t mean to sound negative if I do just looking to get some straight answers)
I don´t mind being out in the woods or somewhere lesser than the cap.city as long as you get a chance at studying medicine, any ideas?
Anybody inhere who can shed some light on the UKCAT and BMAT. Which one is harder? Do you have to do both or would it be better maybe or worse? It seems the UKCAT is more common..
Academic reference: I was recently volunteering at a college in sweden as an english teacher (my old college) and my old tutor and mentor should be good right? And the personal ref. who should that be? My mother or a work related person?
How are you guys doing with your personal statements? I have so much volunteering and love for the subject and am really worried it is not going to hold up=(
What should be in there? What should not?
Many thanks really for spending time reading this and thank you for any feedback!!
Hope you guys are getting some sunshine whereever you are

I applied to COWA in January and have an interview 14th May so hopefully see some of you there! Am 30 with an 11 year old son, currently working in senior management but always wanted to do this when I left school and finally decided it was now or never, so am keeping my fingers crossed I don't say anything daft at the interview. Must be mad to be hoping to spend the next 5-6 years poor and another few years before I'm earning my curent salary....reading stuff on here though reassures me that at least there are similar people in the same situation
