Hi, I think there were about 36 of us at the pre-access interview days and 18 of us got places, which is the same as last year. Apparently they have no plans to increase the number of places at the moment.

    Hey there,

I'd be happy to give you any advice for the pre-access interview days. There isn't much preparation one can do for these other than read about current medical topics, brush up on your GCSE maths and of course, prepare for the standard med school interview questions ie, why you want to be a doctor etc.... These two days have so far been the most tiring of my life as they are 9-5 full-on days. I definitely needed a drink after them! You will have to work in a group, do a presentation, take a maths test and a science test (read and interpret data) write an article or letter on medical topic, and have an interview with a panel of 2 teachers and 1 student. Get a good nights sleep beforehand.....

As for the information sessions; they are very informative sessions about the course structure, candidate suitability and the details of the interview days. The course tutors start the session and the current students round it off with loads of opportunity to ask ANY questions. The most useful advice I can give you is to Take a pen and paper!! there is loads to take down....

Really hope this helps a little

    Meera

    Hi Nellie,

All you can revise for is the interview and maths

I found maths questions on GCSE bitesize really helpful- I went through them the night before the interview days. It would be good to have knowledge of current medical topics along with answers to the typical questions you may be asked at a med school interview.

    Hope this helps

    Meezie
