People quit for many reasons.... the last they will list is their own failings. Forget which course you are on, theres only one thing gonna get you into medicine... or not.... thats YOU.High School 1997: 10 GCSE's A-C
Mancat 2007 : Access To Medicine 7 A* Distinctions.
Cardiff University School Of Medicine 2008: 3rd of 6yrs

Hi. I'm on the course with these 2 muppets(endearingly) above me here and I concur with what they are saying. I did also consider Sussex Downs course but 2 of my 4 choices would only take COWA. If your 1st choice is Brighton Uni, then I suggest you consider Sussex Downs course. If it's other Uni's then I would personally recommend COWA. Sussex Downs has a smaller cohort with the last lot all getting places, so yes 100%, but you have to bear in mind that was a class of 18. At COWA there are around 70 odd people split into 4 groups and I think 74% of last year's lot got a place at Uni. That's approx. 52 people (this is a crude rate though). I obviously don't have figures for the remainder who will go on to next years med places. More universities accept this course than any other so it offers more flexibility. Also I have actually been to Lewes campus as a night class student and I am in the position to compare both facilities and COWA wins hands down. Plus if you stay in Brighton, it's expensive to live and you have to get a train to Lewes to go to class. What little finacial support there is for both courses, I believe COWA to edge it here too. With regards to Emma's comments, I can kind of see where she is coming from but her biggest issue was with childcare and not so much the actual course, but there are plenty comments already explaining past and current thoughts on the course. Also there's no Woolpack lol.
I hope this helps

I did the COWA access to med course in 2002-2003, went to UEA 2003-2008 and have successfully completed my first year of working as a doctor.

COWA teaches you discipline. The course volume is high so you HAVE to be organised. The work itself is not difficult.
There was a research paper that came out of Manchester university about 10 years ago which found that the key to getting through med school is not intellect but organisation.
The COWA course sets you up for med school and beyond; there is a huge administrative burden in the NHS!
