: ( PLEASE Help GCSE and A level !
My GCSE s are pretty poor so if I got A*s at A level would they compensate for the grades I got? Although I am doing none of the subjects which I got particularly bad grades in for A level. I would really like an answer please I am so worried.

They are so bad!!! I don't want to say what they are but I was just wondering if I did get A*s at A level would you still be considered a competitive candidate without any discrimination based on poor GCSE grades?

Well there will be people on here with worse results and it'd have to depend on the university... Birmingham want something like 8A*s but some places just want B's in English language and Maths. If you don't open up about them, you're never gonna accept it what went wrong and move on and get it right next time

Well most people on here have so many A*s I have done SO badly I am seriously wondering if I would be able to still do medicine because they would look at my results and see someone else who has done better and then I would not get a place! I am so gutted about these results
If I got better A level results than someone who got better GCSEs than me would I stand a better chance than them???????

Well if they are really THAT bad you want to be looking at universities that have low GCSE requirements, most want B in english language and a B in mathematics, after that quite a lot just go onto another factor like A levels and PS, but i not be able to recommend any if i dont know if you have those.

Sorry, but I don't want to publically mention the med school he is at, but I will say he passed GCSEs with 5 x Bs and 5 x As and no A*. Two years later he got ABB at A level and then read a degree elsewhere.
I am told that hardest part of getting ino medicine is getting into med school, so to get to med school you have to show real drive and motivation and show work experience. Hope this helps, I'll PM you.
