Hi Cotty, I thought I'd replied to this previously but something must have gone wrong with newmedia's system

They're only trying to make sure you're at least 21+ by the time you start the course. The reason for this is to make sure the course is suited to people who have missed the boat while at school, for various reasons.
To be honest, the family thing is completely unenforceable. It is against European law to discriminate on that front so it's mainly a statement to indicate the sort of background you should be from to gain an interview. Personally I think it's rubbish. I got a place, my mum had been to uni before that (first in my family), and my sisters were currently at uni. I withheld this information as it was none of their business.
The chemistry is the most difficult part of the course, but nothing conceptually challenging. However, the lecturer is fantastic and he will find a way to make it stick.

Do you know if any of the other medical schools accept the PTM course or is it on a case by case basis? Thank you for the information that there is the possibility of getting into Dundee or Aberdeen for the "clinical" part of the course. I was put off by the idea of Manchester and three years of fees at over £9000. Did you say that the clinical years fees are paid or did I imagine that in a moment of hopefulness?
How do you find the course at Aberdeen? And how does it compare to good ol' St Andrews (I started uni there but had to leave for health reasons)? It's weird that the changes in funding rules have actually worked in my favour, as my time at St Andrews was so short that it doesn't count for having used funding, apparently!
Hope things are going well for you at Aberdeen and thank you for helping others to get to where you are now.

I'm currently a pathway student.
To answer your question, it's very unlikely that you will be accepted into other Medical schools because if you're not within the top 5 in your class, the first thing they are going to ask is why.
Also, I applied for Glasgow as a fall back and got denied.
Hope that helps.

Not yet, they are waiting on references coming back....I can only haope thats a good thing, I was hoping they would only seek references if they were going to offer a place, it would be pretty pointless seeking referneces for someone who, after interview, they decided not to give a place to...heres hoping my theiry is right!!

I agree, I'm sure they wouldn't be checking references unless they were trying to place you! Here is my (pre)congratulations!
I have not heard back yet but I had a very late application, hopefully not too late though! *Fingers crossed*
