Does COWA give everyone an interview?

Hallo everyone,

I was just wondering whether COWA offers EVERYONE who applies to their access to med a interview? Because everyone here says being invited for an interview is like a 'YES you can study with us'? But I get the impression that they're similar to MANCAT and offer everyone an interview and initial assessment. Which is great, as you can get yourself and your personality across in person but I really want it to mean 'yes come study with us' lol.

I applied yesterday and recieved an email today saying

'Thank you for your application for the above course at The College of West Anglia. We are in the process of arranging an interview for you and will contact you shortly with a suitable date'

Ahhh Im too anxious. Ah well I'll take it at face value and hope they don't forget about me. If anyone does have any info on the interview/how long they had to wait after application for an interview date it would be much appreciated.

Can't answer that question for you. We were told however that they like to interview people to see if they measure up to what they give on paper. There are a couple every now and then who don't. But they don't interview people who don't meet their minimum requirements, so the fact that you got an interview is a good sign.
Thing is, when I went, there were a whole bunch of us there who automatically got a place. The interview was more of a briefing for us, and where we did a bit of paperwork. Yours should be longer, so prepare for it.
Good luck to you, and maybe see you next year.

Ah thanks.

I'll just have to wait and see. Yeah it's probably a 'lets stake her out' interview lol. Mind you, I've never read/heard about anyone who didn't get an interview, but it' unlikely they would post on here that they didn't. Who knows.

Thanks again Giella. And yup, fingers crossed hope to see you next year.

What do you expect? Be taken without any interview? Naive at least

What?

No I meant, do they OFFER EVERYONE AN INTERVIEW. As in do they filter their applicants and reject some (based on grades/experience/tone of application) and invite others for interview?

I never asked whether they interview fullstop. Get your reading right.

Naive?

Ignore them. I was going to write an angry defensive response but it wasn't worth it.
I get it though. You're nervous and you're anxious and you want to know what you're getting into.
It's unlikely that you'll be competing with anyone at an interview. Unfortunately, I can't say how the interview will go. I think you should just aim to impress.
I'm glad to see you again though. This A2M board has got full of people who don't talk about the Access course, and are talking about A levels and stuff which isn't relevant.
Welcome back!

As the course is apparently accepted by St.Andrews I assume their policy is the same as it is for Perth College Pathway to Med students who must have an 80% pass rate for interview, I wouldn't go into an interview believing it was a done deal either but I'm sure you wouldn't.

As to if that's 80% per test, unit or your course average result idk but aim to nail every assessment.

hehehe that's all I can babble to myself about 'A2M this and A2M that', if your willing to listen then wayhay!

Yeah I went off the radar for a bit sorting myself out, I got myself a job as a phlebotomist! which I'm chuffed about as it is relevent work exp. How about you what are you doing at the moment? have you sorted where your going to stay when your at COWA? or are you commuting.

Sorry if you have told me before, memory like a fish tank right now.

I see.

Thanks.

All I wanted to know though was whether everybody who applies to COWA gets an initial interview/assessment. All this confusion lol!
