The one at King's is different to the others. That one is designed to help people in year 12/13 into medicine who wouldn't otherwise be considered. That's not the one to go for.
There are various access to medicine courses around the country which are designed for people who've had years of experience in health care already but didn't take the right a levels for traditional access to medicine. Similarly, graduates like myself in non-science disciplines are the people they want on these courses, providing they've got relevant experience in healthcare.
If you've got science A levels or a science degree, then these courses are inappropriate. Most people applying for them will have some qualification post-GCSE.
The very best one in the country is the one at Kings Lynn. It has the highest success rate and is by far the most successful. Another successful one is Sussex Downs College and also City College Norwich.
Some of the lesser known and less respected courses are at Lambeth College London, City and Islington College London. Not so many universities recognise or accept these qualifications. Hope this helps.

I think all you need to know is that that isn't the course you want to do. King's sometimes runs a premedical year but they're choosing not to run it in 2009. I don't know enough about the King's programme that they run for year 13 students although I have heard of it, in order to give a proper answer. I think it's designed to bring people from underprivileged backgrounds up to standard before commencing medicine.
