Im still doing GCSEs and have nearly finished them, i would say recently i have become very interested in doing medicine. This has motivated me to do as well as possible for later exams such as A lvls. The problem is its a bit too late and im not an all A* round person. Most people have told me that Universitys like looking at GCSE results and im only to be honest only expecting around 1 to 3-4 A*s the rest As and about 2 Bs.
As medicine is extremely competitive and there are people who have all A*s i would like to know is there anyone who got into medicine with similar grades i expect to get or that only the very best get in.
Also if that is the case what should i be doing NOW in order to get a better chance in 2-3 years time
Thanks for your time
You do not need all A*s to get in, although it helps
over the next two years, try and get some experience of shadowing in a hospital, at a GPs
also try and get some voluntary work at a day care centre, or charity shop maybe
joining school teams and clubs helps, and over the next two years, work hard towards getting As at A-level
Yes im going to get a job in the summer holidays in a hospital (not sure if i mentioned it already) and i am going to try my best and im confident i can get all As in my A lvl, im taking Physics Chemisty and Biology, haven't decided my fourth yet.
As universitys like skillful people in a way, i play guitar and im taking piano lessons next year
thx again
Alright thanks, anyway i came back from school and i can get my systems coursework to A* easily so if i also do the test well, i might at the most be able to get 4 A*s
Well say i so far could get A*s in
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Systems & Control
In English i get As, all c/w is done so i can't improve
In Maths im around B grade because my teacher is really bad, so many of us have complained but nothings been done..
In French im doing Foundation Speaking and Higher Listening and Reading, its virtually impossible to get anything higher than a B for it now
Music I can get an A but would have to do loads more work to get A*
ITx2 are around B-A again, would take alot of work..
It's around A-level difficulty I would say - lots of different subjects and a great foundation for University.
The prospects of getting into BSMS and other medical schools is very good - I think...
Cheers guys! Yeh that's the problem... I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to afford it! That's another reason i'm so desperate for warwick! But at least it's something and it's a definite...
True, realistically. But you never know. Probably some one will drop out next week, but the chances are not all of us will make it and possibly just even one or two.. you never know though, you have...
That's all it is :( We might not get a shot at medicine because there's somebody else who can fit shapes into patterns a tiny bit better than us. Oh well...I don't want to give up hope, but...
