look, life doesnt end at 17.
i dont understand at all in the slightest this ave i left it too late to get 10 A*s fing.
perhaps life begins at 17 for dsome of you guys, and that underlines the fact that you shouldnt be mekking career choices till you've looked at several careers, much less actually believe you are not going to get into med skool becos you didnt *asterbte enuff over gcse books to get 10 A*s.
dont worry guys, you got years to choose your career and get into it easily enuff.

i didn't bother looking at any other, medicine was what i wanted to do so looking at others would have been pointless.
you don't need all A*'s to get in but the likes of Bham now want about 8 (its definatley 7 but it might go up) so avoid them when you come to apply.
and just a tip. i got A* in physics GCSE and an A in maths, and i just couldn't do AS physics to save my life because i was crap at the maths involved. so if you only expect a B at GCSE maths i'd think again about doing physics. its up to you though, but thats just advice from my own experience and that of one of my friends .Remember, you can have it all

you're totally sure that no other career in the wurld would ave been suitable for you, steph?
like, out of the thousands and thousands you could do, you were 100% at 17? despite never 'aving looked 'ands on at any other career than medicine? or perhaps you did look at other careers.
one fing is for sure, narrowmindedness is definitely a bonus when applyin to med skool. Not that you are displaying that, but its a tru point for many. Sadly narrowmindedness is pretty destructive once you 'it the wards."...reminds me of childhood memories,

well it ain't easy to consider so many careers, i guess many may potentially change their mind if they had all the time to try work exp in each one, but give 'em a break gizzy

actually no gixmo i wasn't 17, i was 11. and i still remember the exact moment. we'd been given an outline of a human body and all the organs and major vessels and told to put them in their proper place. i got them all spot on and the teacher wrote on the bottom.
"excellent, a doctor in the making" and that started my fasincation with medicine.
you can call that whatever the hell you want, i don't mind anymore, cos i'm here in med school doing what i've wanted to do for 9 years.
one of my friends went from archeologist to teaching to lawyer to chemist and back to archeology again, which she is doing now at liverpool. why go round the world to end up back where you startedRemember, you can have it all
