    Talking Am I LoSt???`=(

Hi, reeeaaly srry but I think I've been dreamin' lately... What exactly happens in the years spent at a uk medical school 4 internationals???
Wat I mean is... after 5 years of undergraduate studies... Do u become a doctor??? Then simply go work in a hospital back home??? Or is there other things u have 2 do afterwards??? Wat in the world is F1 and F2??? Could some well-informed person PlEaSe explain the structure of the years an international student will spend in the UK??? i.e. Exactly how many years studying undergraduate then training etc... I'm FrEaKiN' Out "^_^
Obviously I'm LoSt and any help would be REAAAAALLY appreciated.

    Thx in advance...

Relax! This isnt a really really intense forum where people post ALL the time (well except for the who will post next thread etc...)

Well if you are an international student and train here, then you are a doctor at the end just like the rest of the med students --- so anything that applies to them applies to you.

Well the career structure vaires - but to begin with you do two years on speciality rotations, these two years are the F1 and F2 you are talking about. You then go onto specialist training in the area of your choice which will take several more years.

hey-if you are in a uk medical school, you are in the same position as your fellow students in terms of applying for F1 etc etc postgrad wise, however some leave right away after registration, others after becoming consultants and some never!

FYI: F1 and F2 are the first two postgraduate years, spent in a foundation trust's hospital. during f1, you are a "junior" dr, and upon f1 completion, attain full GMC registration, anf f2 is designed to help you further your experience and help you decide which way you want to go be it clinical medicine, general practise etc.

hope it helps-im sure some more learned people out there will correct me!

    all the best
