    MANCAT Assessment..

    Hey everyone.

So I have my MANCAT assessment on June 1st, but for the life of me I have no idea what it's on.

I assume it'll be some GCSE level maths and english (i've been told the science isn't necessary if you have GCSE double award Science? Which I have.)

Can anyone explain to me what type of modules from Maths and English are looked at?

I had a look through my GCSE revision, but to be honest I kept looking at things and wondering why that would be used in an access to medicine course. (Eg; Algebra, trigonometry, etc) and it left me with a surprisingly small amount to re-learn..

I'm the type of person who wants to study before any type of exam or assessment, to make sure I'm going at it knowing what I should.

I've been told its all very basic, but its still a medicine course, so basic for medicine isn't the same as basic for what I currently do..

    Any help? Pretty please?

A large part of the access course is not relevant to medicine, those are the areas (and others) you do cover in maths.

However if youre ok at gcse level english, maths and science - you'll be fine in assessment. The assessment day is very basic, the course isnt!

Yeah, I'm alright at GCSE maths. I had some problems come the GCSE exams and royally screwed them up, but was targetted A's in all 3.

Its only been a couple of years, but my minds forgotten the more complicated GCSE maths information hah.

So the assessment days very basic? I'm fine learning the stuff on the course, perfectly happy with that. Just I'm not very sharp on my maths at the moment so was wondering how basic this thing was and if i would have to really study for it.

Am I gonna need anything for this that I have to bring myself?

    Like, protractor/compass/calculator/etc..

Or is it just pen/pencil & paper?

    They test you on science???

At lambeth we just had to do a written piece of work on something random that we had to discuss, and just your average sort of maths.

Considering MANCAT is on the same sort of level as lambeth, I think that is pretty harsh.
