[QUOTE=Daveyboy00;435302]Hello Kylie - As the only person here that seems to be on the Access course at
Hey there. I am thinking of going down the Access route again. I did actually do 4 months or so of the Access course in Kings Lynn, back in 2003! Quite depressing that I am giving it another shot, as if I had stuck with it then I would a doctor by now! Oh well.
So, am also not sure where would be the best. I am not sure that King's Lynn would take me back(!), I am currently studying A-levels Chemistry, Biology, but just feel that there are too many things stacked against me to apply straight for the 5 years course...ironically, the six year foundation years at med schools (to which I applied this year), seem to prefer you to have no Science background at all!
Any advice anyone?! Maybe I am better off just sticking with the A-levels, but is good to keep my options open?

if u do chemistry and biology a - level you cant do the access courses m8... you have get good grades with them and apply with those... another route is do a science degree and apply as a graduate, this routes really competitive...

Hey John, I'm on the access course in King's Lynn at the moment and you're quite right that they certainly do accept people with science A-levels/science degrees etc.
Helen McGarry is the course director now. You ought to give her a call today and see what she says. There are certainly still places available for this September and I would think that this is your best bet.
Good luck

hey there,
thanks for that. Will give her a call or email her.
Question is: Will they take me after quitting before?!
How are you finding it? Do you Anne (?) for Biology...can't remember the others names!

I'd say go for it John. I'm sure they would recognise that you are committed, and surely understand that you must have had good reasons for not seeing the course through. If they are not willing, could you do the course somewhere else or were you looking specifically at Kings Lynn?
Thanks Daveyboy for providing a view from the other side! Its a difficult decision, because I got a good feeling from Norwich, but I guess I will know what to do once I've been to Kings Lynn.
IWANNABEADOCTOR, I might take you up on that offer and pm you as any handy info and tips would be much obliged!

norwich and kings college?
am I right in thinking that if Daveyboy did the access course at Norwich and is now first year at Kings, that means that Kings accepts the access course?! I didn't think they did, I hope so though becuase I just send off my application to Norwich! (also to COWA and mancat-eek!)

Yep, you'd be right, Kings does accept the Norwich access course - I'm the proof! Think it was the first year they accepted it though as they asked the admissions tutors at CCN to give them more details and asked me about the course at interview. So good luck!
