Heya, i went through school a year early and so did my GCSE's a year early and got 1A* 5A's 4B's and 1C.
I then did my AS' and got BBCD obviously they were no where near good enough for medicine and as i had the extra year i decided to repeat year 12 (lower 6th form) as i only really decided to do medicine after doing my AS'.
I repeated year 12 and did my AS' again and got AAAC and obviously dropped English literature that i obtained a C in, so i only continued biology, chemistry and maths for A2. I am doing a retake in one of my english modules next week and hoping to take it up to a B.
I have applied to
Warwick - Biological sciences - got an offer of AABc
UCL - Biomedical sciences - they will give me an offer after open day on 07/02/06
Birmingham - medicine - rejected
Southampton - medicine - pending
Brighton Sussex - medicine - pending
Bristol - medicine - pending
I am looking for advice for what to do if i dont get into medicine? as i do still want to become a doctor whatever route i take to get there. What is best to do? take a year out and reapply next year? after getting more work experience etc. Or is it best to go to Warwick or UCL and do a degree and then apply postgraduate? as i thought postgraduate medicine is even harder to get into?
You still have 3/4 choices to hear from, try not to be pessimistic about it! If the worst happens, get feedback from the unis who rejected you and find out why.
(N.B. Graduate entry is, statistically, tougher than post A-level entry.)
thanks for the advice mate, i was just trying to build up a plan for the worst case scenario, as there is nothing worse than not being prepared. I do still hope/want to get in and i think it is possible. Ideally id like to get into Southampton, but to be honest id go wherever! as long as it's medicine!
Most people with conditional offers and Uni exams won't know their results until mid to late June, and it is innveitable that some people fall at this hurdle. There's also an acceptance afternoon at...

I'd imagine the bulk of offers to those of us on the waiting list will be following the release of exam results at the end of June beginning of July, when fingers crossed (and not intentionally being...
Thanks for posting the link Medic_88. I found it an interesting read. Love your idea about getting medical students to process the letters instead. Yeah, surely sending letters back and forth to...
