So competition is tougher, and there are a lot more people applying to med school from access courses ...
Good luck!

Hey there! Well im currently on the access course in Kings Lynn. I dont want to sound bias but i would deffinatly say the kings lynn course is the best in the country. The Kings Lynn course was the first access course in the UK and therefore is the longest running. Its is also the most highly respected as its students are tried and tested through the medical system. The course is also the only one in the country to be accepted by over 20 UK medical schools, no other access course is accepted by so many medical schools!
Also the course is fantastic and we have some amaizing teachers. The only thing i can say is to get hold of derek Holmes at the college. He is the course leader and he can answer any questions that you may have. If you want any more info then give me a shout2001/04 -- UCLAN Adult Nursing

ahhhhh there may be a problem. did you finish your A levels and just did not get good results? The thing is the course is not for that purpose. Another thing is that yes they do take people at 19 but very very rarely!!!! the normal age for this course is 21, as it is designed for mature students. The one person on my course who is 19 (well is now 20) has found it very very difficult to find a med school that will take them. This is because the med schools recognise that this is a course for mature students. It is not for people who did bad on their A levels and want to find another way in. The only thing i can say is to give them a call to see what they say. The number for the college is: 01553 761144
Thats the number for general enquiries. The course is called: Access to Medicine2001/04 -- UCLAN Adult Nursing

JD - could you give us some more information about your academic background? You will probably get better advice (e.g. Amanda's advice about your suitability).
