I posted this thread to give you information about the access course at Sussex Downs as nobody really gives any here, and I think this dynamic new course deserves it.
I posted a thread a month ago to know who was going to the open day on May 9th, and nobody answered. Jes, we were like 30, and some of them used this website. lol Thank u guys.
Ok, here is a summary of the information we got:
The subjects studied are:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Psychology
- Physics
- Maths
- and a project.
The staff looks nice and motivated.
18 students attended the course last year. 14 had offers: 10 from BSMS, 1 from Soton, one from UEA, one from Hull & York. One got an offer for a Bsc in Biomed. Science. 1 quit before the end. 2 got rejections.
To get into the course, you have to be present at an open day (the last one for 2005 was last Monday) and to fill in the application form. Then, 30 students are invited to two days of tests (not science tests), and the greatest part, the whole cohort (the 30) have an interview at BSMS one the third day, which means you may hold a conditionnal offer from BSMS before starting the course. Last year, 5 had a conditionnal offer at this stage.
The city is lovely, but u have to have good legs as u have to climb hills all the time. lol
If u guys want to add sth...

I went down to the open session on the 4th May. I agree that the staff were friendly and motivating and I think that it would be a great choice to go to Sussex Downs.
It was indeed very hilly, but I'm sure we could all do with the exercise!
I have applied to both Sussex and Kings Lynn and shall wait and see the results. But to anyone who is thinking of Sussex Downs but didn't get the chance to go along to the open sessions this year, I would highly recommend you get yourself along to one of the sessions. They were informative and truthful.
Quite daunting but made me come out of it wanting this even more!
does anyone know when Sussex downs is going to announce who they are inviting to the assesment days. I wrote the date down somewhere but can't seem to find it!
Yep. 27 and 28 June for tests and on the 29th: interview at BSMS. It is the open day there also.
Nevertheless, I don't know when we will know who is selected for those 3 days. Applications have to be sent before the end of May; therefore, those who are selected should know at the beginning of June.

@FairytaleGirl - A doctor I know got married before she qualified and took on her husband'd surname. They then divorced a few years after the qualified but she is still known by her...
I'm worried about putting all my eggs in one basket. It's funny because that's what I've been doing for years!
As for how many people still hanging on by their fingernails, I've lost count!
