do we need to write plab for getting an admission in D.M or P.HD courses?
hello there,
i am an international medical graduate.i would like to pursue my post graduation in uk.(D.M or P.HD)in aberdeen.i read that to get an admission our qualifications should confer eligibility for registration with the General Medical Council" what does this mean? am i suppose to give plab?

Hey Megamind,
This is not the best place to ask about postgraduate programmes since our forum focuses mainly on MBChB (undergrad) degrees. However, according to Aberdeen Med School's MD/ChM website, an eligible applicant for Doctor of Medicine/Surgery degree needs to either be a University of Aberdeen medical graduate or a graduate of recognized university who held a research or teaching post in Aberdeen or Inverness area for a minimum of 2 years prior to applying to the programme. He/she would have to be fully registered with GMC during that teaching/research period.
As far as the GMC registration is concerned, I suspect it might be quite challenging in this case (for a graduate of a University outside of EU who's not an EU citizen). Source:

I'm afraid passing the PLAB would be required (unless you completed internship at an institution recognized by GMC).
