questions about applying to Aberdeen as a graduate
Hey,
I just wanted to ask some questions about applying to Aberdeen University, as a graduate.
I already meet all the academic requirements for Aberdeen University, as I have a 2.1 degree and an A in chemistry.
I know that Aberdeen University have an Objective Scoring System that is initially applied to all aspects of the ucas application and this produces three separate scores.
These are the Academic score, UCAS form score, and the UKCAT score. Does anyone know how they allocate an academic score for graduates? Also, does anyone know if they pay attention to the reference when looking at each application. I am just asking because my personal tutor wrote a really good reference for me, and was hoping that it would be taken into consideration.
I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hey firestar,
You meet the academic requirements, end of story. They will be more likely to compare grad applications on the basis of PS/work experience, so focus on that and keep your fingers crossed.
If you're wondering about the details of scoring system for the UCAS form, I'm afraid I can't help you here - and neither can any other applicant or med student. The best advice anyone can give you here is: get as much exposure to medicine as possible, show them you're motivated and focused on your aim. It should be an informed career choice, after all.
As far as the reference is concerned, a shining ref is always nice to have, however you won't get any brownie points for having a kind tutor. Refs are not nearly as important as PS and, IMO, they only use them as an exclusion criterion (i.e. if your ref is cr*p, you're crossed off the list; if it's ok, you're through; if it's amazing - good for u, but you still end up in the same basket with the 'ok ref' crowd)
hope this clears things up 4 u
