Am i stupid applying to aberdeen?

I'm an undergraduate but i'm a little worried about applying to Aberdeen with m AS grades (BBCC) but i'm not cashing them in and hopefully being predicted 3 A's for.

ALSO my UKCAT score is only 600

My GCSEs are 3 A*s 8A's and 1 B

Do i stand a chance with Aberdeen or is it a bit stupid to apply there?

I don't think that you are stupid. I'm not conversant with A levels/AS levels etc as I'm Scottish but if you have
a read at the requirements, as long as you get AAB in your A levels (they state that these will raise to AAA
for 2012 entry)and have C at GCSE for English and Maths plus A's and B's in science subjects then you are meeting the academic requirements. I think also that Aberdeen is one of the unis that put less emphasis on the UKCAT. I think on the Big UKCAT thread it
says 4% but I would check for yourself. Additionally, as long as you have good non-academics, a good ps and reference then you are
in with a shot.

I remember them saying they look at the UKCAT for 4% of the application. Personally, I find the UKCAT to be ridiculous and 600 is a perfectly acceptable score. I know people who got in with less, but you'll meet people who'll brag aorund saying they scored 680+ in it, they deserve a swift slap in the face as I don't feel it adds anything to how you'll be as a clinician.

In short. You're not stupid applying for Aberdeen. It is 4th or 3rd in the UK after all, so you'd be stupid not to :P

Tess_Tickles, interesting thing about the UKCAT, i was on placement with a senior Thoracic Surgeon who 'for fun' took the UKCAT and got a 496 ave. The test proves bugger all.
