What do you think guys?? :(:( ahh
Hey guys! So i had my interview on the 24th of Feb and looking back at it im really worried now. The interviewers, like you guys said, were really nice! But i had a complete mind blank when theyt asked me "bad qualites of being a doctor"! i even prepared it the day before! Then i kind of muttered something along the lines of ' i know this!'. the interviewer was cool about this and said that its okay if you dont know, so i just went 'can you come back to me?' 'smile'. i dont think they liked that answer.
also when this german interviewer asked me what the people at my work exp got out of me while i was there, i started babbling for abit and talked about how I got out of it. she then had to ask me the question again!
but i thought the rest of the interview went okay! eg, if i were to build my ideal doctor, what qualites would it have? and a bunch of other qs which i thought I answered pretty well! (we always think that but the outcome is always different)
And the last question was about oxfam. they asked what was the downside of working for oxfam. and i said shoplifting cuz it happens alot. they then burst into laughter, and i laughed also! not sure if thats a good thing??
Also when they finally asked me if i had any question, i asked if they could recommend reading any other medical journals or articles just to sound keen! the lady recommmened nature and kind of bluntly said you shouldnt read to much into medicine. So i then proceeded talking about how i liked harry potter and how im a big fan. then the german lady agreed that she was a fan etc. i then added that i wasnt a fan of twilight and the other interview just said.. 'well im waiting for the next book to come out'. so i just laughed and smiled.
they were really nice ladies and im dying to go to aberdeen. do you think ive got a chance of getting a offer now? i was also looking at a thread from last yr and quites a few peeps got rejected after interview and they thought it went okay??!! what do you think guys?? thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hey MedicineBoy
It's a tricky one - your perceptions of the interview alone will not be sufficient to decide whether you'll get an offer or not. Hah, even knowing the interviewers' opinions would not sort this problem completely. This is because the interview is just a part of a wider selection process, and in one case a good interview might not be enough, while in another instance even a mediocre one will get an applicant a place on the course. It all depends on how much points were allocated to your PS, to your school grades, to your work and voluntary work experience...
As I said, these are your perceptions of the interview - some questions went well, some questions went badly. The interviewers might disagree with you here, and you'll never know what they liked/disliked about your answers. Trying to guestimate your chances is a really bad idea - and while I understand this is extremely stressful time for you - there is no-one on this forum who could reliably answer that final question of yours. Unfortunately, you're jost going to have to wait for their response. This is the brutal truth, and I'm sorry I'm the one who gives you such a non-comforting asnwer. Right now you need to sit tight and think positive...
Good luck,

You're best trying not to over examine your interview. I tortured myself for months thinking about what I could have answered better and what I should have said. The fact that you've had an interview is good, there were over 2000 aopplicants this year and on 600 were invited to interview. Out of those 600, about 350-400 offers will probably be made, so your chances are still looking good.
All the best.

I know it's hard, but try not to think about it too much, you'll know soon enough. In my interview at Newcastle I was really sucky at answering a few questions and still got offered. Like, one question they asked me "Apart from what you've written in your PS about communication and empathy, what else do you think are good qualities to have for a doctor?" - I then proceeded to babble on for about five minutes about how I thought communication was a good skill to have before realising what the actual question was - d'oh!! But like I said, if you gave a good impression overall you should still be fine.
